8800 GT (a 2.0 card)-Will it install in x16 slot?

A little confused, will the 8800 GT card only work in a pci express 2.0 slot or will it also work in a x16 slot? thanks!

PCI-E is backwards compatible so it should work in PCI-E 1.x slots and vice versa.

I know it will work in a 16x PCIE slot, although I have heard of issues with exactly what PCIE 1.x version the chipset is using.
