I am gathering parts for a new computer and after reading alot of posts and info have decided to go with a new 780i setup (unless talked out of it).
my question is which brand of MOB to get
Asus P5N-T
Evga 132CK
XFX N780
Asus Striker II Formula(cant find any good info on it though)
What are the advantages of the listed units?
Are there others to look at?
Just wait for the 790i, it will have DDR3 support and 1600mhz FSB for the newer CPU's. That is unless you are content with cheaper but still awesome DDR2 and you do not plan on using the best processor.
For now EVGA and XFX have been selling the manufactured ones built by the company that make them for NVidia, there all the same for now. Go to NewEgg and check both brands, they clearly look the same mobo. By the time he's got the 790i and some DDR3, he''l hit very close to $1000 dollars when he can get the 780i with DDR2 for half the price. Thats absurd!

I am computerless at the moment (have borrowed a laptop for now) so don't have lots of timeand on a budget. I figured the 780 could get a new cpu if i was to upgrade thatway in the future, plus it has a good VGA interface with 2 cards being 2.0 to hold off on any new $800 wizbang gottahaveit video cards that are upcoming.
What memory will be best for this ( will be doing OC) I have OCZ PC2 6400 2x2gb Dual ch SLI ready 5-4-4 #ocz2n800sr4gk now from last computer, is this any good for this MOB?
What CPU coolers will fit and work on this MOB that can be recomended?
The Asus board looks great! I have been using the eVga 680i board with water cooling, and the loudest thing now is the stupid nForce fan to cool off the chipset! I really should have looked at Asus' silent design.
here, i myself just bought a ASUS 780i, not a big fan of any motherboards but ive heard ASUS does good motherboards and with XFX and EVGA sold out and price extremes(340+) i was able to find a ASUS P5N-T at Mwave for just $280 USD, in total it cost me $330 for 2day Air shipping, tax(because i live in California) and what not(i bought it off Ebay then figured out the seller was acutally Mwave.com, o well same stuff)
anyone know if msi is known for good oc support? i see it has Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme HD Audio something the others do not have. unless i am mistaken.
