Here's the network:

Dlink DSL-2640B
LAN
- My Desktop (Vista x64)
- Family Desktop (Vista x64)

WLAN
- My Laptop (Vista x32)
- Mums Notebook (XP)

The notebook is an Asus Eee PC 701SD.
- It connects fine when wired directly to the router.
- It finds the wireless network and tries to connect.
- Sends packets but does not receive.
- Says signal strength is Excellent.
- ipconfig /all reports that the IP address is 0.0.0.0
- Connected fine to the instore wireless network when we took it back to the shop.
- ipconfig /release + ipconfig /renew reports: "An error has occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.
- Settings are set to obtain IP and DNS automatically.
- Network adapter: Realtech Wireless LAN PCIE Network Adapter #3

Can anyone help? This bugs me because my Sony Vaio laptop connected to the network right out of the box.
If you need any more details let me know.

Thanks!
James

Try turning off wireless security temporarily in the router (see router manual).
