Somehow??? when I launch application now they do not appear on my taskbar?
I'm running a laptop with XP /SP2? does anyone know what causes this and
how to restore this feature....

I can switch by using Alt-tab still but nothing I do seems to recover the
task list on the buttom of the screen on the task bar.

thanks!

Try diabling these services:

Universal Plug and Play Device Host
SSDP Discovery Service

If you search "missing icons" in this newgroup there was a discussion
