I have a emachines t5212 that I am trying to squeeze more performance from it and wondered if I could change some of the bios settings. I have a dual core 805 processor which some say is very overclockable. The problem is that I have found that I have a "locked" bios. I went to emachines and found an upgrade hoping it would not be locked but it was. Searching intels site for the board I found a couple of newer bios versions, but the version numbers were different. I imagine that this is because the board was manufactured for Gateway. Does anyone know if the bios versions on the intel site will be unlocked and work for my machine? The board is a D102GGC2 ATI(Intel) Northbridge. The emachines bios version is a GC11020M.15A.XXXX.XXXX.XXXX the intel version numbers are GC11020M.85A.XXXX.XXXX.XXXX.

FYI I updated the bios from the Intel website. It worked fine but did not change the options available to enable me to change settings. No more OEM boxes for me!

an OEM bios is not easily unlockable, if it's even possible. My dell has a locked bios with no hope of unlocking it...

I can't tell you excatley how but if you open your box look for a digram on the inner side that shows jumper options thus should show where the jumper should be placed to reset the bios password.
