Hi, I was wondering which one would give me the best perfomance in games.

The 8600: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicat [...] No=3048543

OR

The 2600: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicat [...] CatId=1826

I don't need to play games at a high resolution. Only at 1024x768

the 8600gts should be faster, but if you can add a little more $$ you can get the ati hd3850 that is a lot faster than the two

second that 8600 is faster at lower resolutions.. but 3850s are cheap and so much more powerful

Yeah defiantly get the 3850 for just a bit more. Here's one from the same line as the 2600XT you listed.

Or you could get the 2600XT for much less over here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814102703
There's always a good 2900GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814102712
This one has a big sale right now. It's about the same as the 8600GTS you listed.

Just realized you said lower resolutions; that's the 256MB model.

The price difference is because the ones I showed are in canadian prices. I dont have enough money for the hd3850 but I think ive found a better card for the same price.

That's a 'little bit' better than the DDR3 version, though I'd vote for the 3850. :D

Depends on what games you wish to play but the 8600 and 2600 are only DX10 on paper anyway.. they don't have enough power.. look at DX9 cards (ATi DX9 still hold true in many games unlike many 7 series nvidia cards it seems)

This is a perfect example where plenty of people provide the best help possible but to no luck with ignorant people. Trust us, the 3850 is a great card, it performs on a competly different scale for a minmial cost increase. The drivers are fine.

Those prices stink. But shoot, just to back up the 3850, it's twice the card the 8600GTS is: http://www.anandtech.com/video/sho [...] i=3151&p=8

ATI HD 3850s are going for $179 on www.ncix.com right now. They eat 8600GTS for breakfast. I mean like 30-50% more frames per second. The 8600 is really not a good investment of your money at this point in time espescially if your looking for around $165 for the card.

EDIT: http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] re=Diamond
also comes with valve's blackbox
