Hey there people, i am almost complete in my first builg, just saving for the 8800gt and im done, however after putting it all together i have noticed a problem

i am using an ASpire/Apevia X-infinity, which has a top mounted 80 mm fan.

Now previously the 450w power supply fit without a problem.

But my new 650 wouldnt, so i had to remove the top mounted fan.

However i am left with a pretty grill, and a gaping hole, with no way of attaching the grill without a fan underneath.

I have noticed that there are 4 smaller holes in teh fan which could possibly be for a 60mm top fan. Perhaps i could drill some more holes in the case, i dont want to make a mess of it however,

Here is a picture of the top of the case.

Any help would be well appreciated

yea, the way u can still mount the fan is to mount it on the outside of the case, itll still work and their wont be a hole, but it might look a lil funny, id still put the grill on top of the fan thou so you dont get things falling into ur fan

and if you dont want the fan, then ur best bet is to get some good super glue or epoxy, and other close the hole altogether with sheet metal, or just glue the grill to the top of the case, with no fan on it, itll just be a way for things and dust to fall in, which isnt a good thing in my opinion

last option is get a better case, that case doesnt have the best airflow, id suggest just getting a antec nine hundred u can get em for around 70 -80 and you have a pretty decient comp going so its gonna need good cooling

I have the same case so I mounted the fan on top because my new psu. Also monste4321 is right, this case does not have good airflow. I have been fighting heat problems ever since I started overclocking my QX6850. I finally got the fans arranged so that I lowered my temps by 10c.

Here are the way my fans are arranged;

2 front 80mm intakes
1 80mm top mounted intake
1 80mm spot fan blowing across memory and mobo heat sensor
1 80mm side panel exhaust
1 120mm rear exhaust

My temps are in the mid 40's at idle and low 60's under load. I am still thinking of getting another case. The Antec 900 is a nice case but it has faults like the hard drive mounts are weak and it is difficult to hide the wiring. So I am still looking.
