Ok so i got my 8800GT today, and it came with this power cable that i am not sure if i should use. Here is what it looks like:

My power supply has a pcie power connector, should i use that instead of the extension provided with the card? I`m guessing it was included in case the power supply didn't have a pcie power connector?

Thanks for reading :).

Yes use the Pcie connector if your PSU has one. Your guess is correct, it is included in case your psu does not have a pcie connector.

Hey thanks for the fast reply mate, didn't think anyone would reply at this time.

Something on a side note, why exactly do you need to use the dongle to plug the monitor to the graphic card? Couldn't they build the graphic card with the connector for an LCD right into the card, or was it made like this to connect some other display?

Thanks.

Edit: Formatted my pc and am installing drivers atm, and noticed in speedfan that this card (unlike my old 7900 gt) has a temperature reading called "Ambient". What exactly is this? Is it the air around the card?

And are these readings any good? (these where taken at idle)

Core: 55
Ambient: 43
