Hi everyone,

I have a really tight budget of £600, I have already picked all my other parts which total out £570.63 excluding a power supply. I am in a rush now because I am really in need of a quality power supply for such a low money. Please could anyone give me some advice.

BTW, I have no idea how much watts I need, here is my config:

Processor: Intel i5 3570k Ivy Bridge
Motherboard: Asrock H77 Pro4-M z77
GPU: Zotac GTX 560 ti
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM
Heat sink: Cooler master TX3 Evo
Optical Drive: Asus 24x Dvd Burner
Case: Corsair Carbide 300R
Power supply: ??????????????

Please guys I am in real need of some help, thank you very much for taking your time.

Shad

Alright, what do you think I should downgrade so I can buy like a 600watt Corsair Power supply for 50. Which component do you think is best to downgrade 20 pounds from.

That seems a lot for that collection of parts. Where are you sourcing them? I just did a quick search and could put that together for a little over £520. That said I would spend about £50-£60 on a PSU like this

Hope this helps

Op one question...are you overclocking? You have an unlocked i5 and aftermarket cooler but you don't have a very OC capable motherboard. H77 is very limited when it comes to that i believe.

Thank you very much for the help guys, if I am gonna stick to the stock cooler wouldn't it be too noisy? Or is that not true. Anyway I will definitely buy a 50 pound power supply, but do you guys think 550w is enough? Or do I need more?

Well OP, it does not sound like you have plans for overclocking so you can save money by

Getting the non K version of your processor and

Dropping the aftermarket. If anything it should be quieter. Stock coolers arent really noisy...

Well essentially I do want to do some overclocking, but if I don't will be able to install the stock cooler for now and then buy an aftermarket cooler later on? And what about the temperatures? Because my current pc is suffering from heat and turn off after 3 hours of use.

a non overclocked Ivy Bridge i5 3570K will run nice and cool with the stock Intel heatsink.

And yes 550 watts is plenty, I run way more then that on my 550 watt Antec which isn't even as good as the XFX 550

Alright so that's my decision then, I am not going to down grade my CPU because eventually I will overclock but do you guys think that it is possible to do some gently overclocking with the stock fan? Or not? Thanks :D

Alright then great :D Thank you very much

Anyway, this is a little bit off topic but: Do you that the components I picked are compatible? And would pick the same components if you bought on this budget?

Sorry, I am just confirming because I am buying these parts in about an hour.

Oh yeah, do you think I should buy the Corsair 600w builder series? Because I have heard quite some good reviews from it. Thanks ;)

The Corsair 600w Builder is a good one.

ASRock z77 board is a great match for that i5 chip. Personally I would get a HD 7850 instead of a 560 Ti. But I'm not sure what your prices are over there.

Oh alright, that's a confirmation then... will buy everything in a minute.

Sorry to bother you again, but one more thing: I know that the stock cooler already has pre-applied thermal paste, but do you think I should add any extra thermal paste, will this help? And when I replace the cooler how do I get off the paste.

That's it, thank you very much for all the help :D

OP i highly suggest you get another motherboars with a different chipset from the H77 reason being is that the H77 is extremely limited when overclocking.

Sorry, but that motherboard is one of the cheapest that supports the new Ivy Bridge processors. Upgrading the motherboard will only increase my budget. Anyway, the motherboard allows me to overclock and even has UEFI, so I can't see any problem. However, I won't be overclocking over 4GHz, I will just probably stay around 3.8GHz so I can't see any problem

If you dont plan past 4 then your build looks pretty solid. I would however take this last opportunity to suggest the asrock pro3 z75 motherboard however which is slightly cheaper (newegg prices usd) and offers more overclocking features. However it is up to you and i wish you a good luck :)

Thank you very much for your suggestion. However, I am very strictly limitted to the budget and since I am buying all my parts from amazon (because of free delivery), the board costs me more :( Thanks anyway.
