core2 duo overclock messing with USBs

Please could someone explain to me why when i overclock my e6850 on a evga 680i past say 3300 the usb mouse connection drops in and out? you know the sound of when a usb device disconnects and connects. I also have a friend with a completely different system with a e6400 and it happens to his external hard drive.

this is two differnt overclocks 2 different systems and both are doing something ive never seen before. all top of the line parts in both systems.

please help :)

Make sure your various auxiliary bus speeds are locked to standard speeds (e.g. 33 MHz PCI bus, 100MHz PCIexpress bus).
Also, make sure you aren't running your memory bus faster than what the RAM can handle.
