Sigh...I think I messed up, I jumped on getting this 500w PSU(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171018) from CompUSA on Black Friday to go in my friend's computer....which is going to have an 8800GT. It's not going to work is it?

If ypu mean this one COOLER MASTER eXtreme RP-500. I don't recommend it. See this Official XS Tiered PSU Manufacturer Brand Listing Phase III it's a tier 4 at best. It might take out your whole system.

I learned the hard way a while back that the quality of a psu actually matter.... Don't just look at wattage and other specs, go for a brand name.
