I have got a usb video extender running off my laptop to a projector. i then extended my desktop to the projector. Is it possible to output the full screen video to the extended monitor while having the controls on my primary desktop so it looks professional and the audience doesn't see the mouse and the play and pause stuff and selecting clips. This is for a school show.

If the controls are part of the software you are using, then no. You may be able to check the software you are using to play the video and use keyboard shortcuts in place of clicking. Then the icons won't show up on the display.
