Alright im using a Asus Maximus Formula, flashed to rampage formula bios 0308. I have my Q6600 at 3.8 ghz (423 x 9.0) and my cpu will always restart in the middle of stress testing with OCCT, im not sure how long but it is definetly more than 3 hours. Basically i have increased every voltage in my bios with no avail and im wondering what you guys recommend setting the following too,
CPU GTL Reference :
North Bridge GTL Reference :
DDR2 Channel A REF Voltage :
DDR2 Channel B REF Voltage :
DDR2 Controller REF Voltage :

Ive tried the ddr2 ref and channel set to both auto and DDR2 REF and i cant get it stable, what about CPU and NB GTL reference?

My temps peak at 60c, (im not sure about NB temps) and my voltage is set to 1.38v, ive tried higher it dosnt help.

Since it takes 3 hours for the error to occur it's hard to say what makes it happen. What about Prime95 (version25.6)?
You could try running RAM timings a bit more loosely or at a reduced "transaction booster" rate.

Also try running at 6x423 and you'll see if it works at that FSB or higher.
Maybe you've just hit the fsb limit of the chip.

Whats the VID of your q6600? Use the newest Core Temp to locate its factory setting. if your Vcore voltage is set to 1.38, thats exactly why you fail the tests. A good VID chip will need 1.46-1.48 Loaded, a mid one like my entry in the OC comp needs 1.50ish loaded, and a bad one wont get there!

I have the same board, so check out my thread in the competition poll! Got her to 3.8 @ 1.504 loaded for 8+ hours WITH decent RAM timings!

I know your Formula will hit 450 FSB stable.

Oh, does the Rampage BIOS give you any extra options? Or anything that makes it appealing? I just use the newest Formula bios for now.

Thanks!

my vid 1.2250v, the reason why i dont increase voltage is because when i do it dosnt seem to help anything i will try higher again. Btw rampage formula bios aint even worth it.

Thats how it would look. It's just gonna keep needing more VCore voltage than you think!

1.2250? Thats nice! Set the BIOS VCore to 1.5000 with Load Line Calibration enabled, you'll get 1.475 Idle in windows, and should remain that or hit 1.468 when Loaded. That will be near where you'll need it.

Test with prime small FFTs.

If successful, you may lower the VCore a notch and do it again! Its alot easier to start at the top when hitting a good speed!

I am in the process of learning A/GTL+ since its the entire signaling design of q6600s.

Good luck. Dont be scared of a lil voltage!

You can see my results in shadows OC thread.

Use cpuid HWMonitor to check your temperatures. It also lists the Tcase from one of the sensor chips (CPUTIN for ASUS boards I think).
A Q6600 G0 is safe upto about 70°C (71.4°C in spec) and that's for Tcase not the cores themselves.
That being said I wouldn't go over 70°C for the cores either.
