Usb ports

Hello,
i just reinstalled xp on my laptop and now it wont show up anything when i insert something intothe usb port.the light comes on on my usb stick.but thats all.i checked the usb controllers and the hubs and it says the device is working properally.can anyone point me in the right direction please.and i installed the drivers again.but still wont show up anything

Check your BIOS settings to make sure all the USB settings are enabled. You can usually enter the BIOS by pressing the DEL or F1 or F8 key right after you start the power.
