I know its time to upgrade but until then...

Im trying to OC my 3200+ amd athlon x64

It is 2.0ghz, lookin for a small bump, maybe 2.4ghz, higher if it can handle it. So i go into BIOS, do the multiplier x11 to test it out, I boot it up and still 2.0ghz. go back in bios and it set it back to x10. why??? It wont go up! Anyone know the issue with this? Thanks in advance!

i don't know about this specific processor, but usually the mulitpliers are locked, you can't change them. soem versions from amd, the 5000be, 9850be and 6400be have unlocked multipliers, where you can change it.

oh and to overclock, in my phenom 9500 i simply increase the bus speed from 200 to 228mhz. this along with my 11x mulitplier, i get 2.5ghz i don't know about your system since you didn't list the mobo or ram speeds, so if you could list them.......

My 3200+ runs stable at upto 2400MHz. The difference in performance is hard to notice. I guess I'm spoiled now.

I've never been able to get a 3200+ above 2.2 GHz, but these were socket 754 and 939 parts. Is this an socket AM2 processor or an earlier component?

^Mine is a socket 939 (Winchester) with 4x512MB DDR 400MHz on an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. It works 24/7 stable but as I said... it's hard to notice a difference with everyday work.
