vista freeze on boot after install

If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate it. Essentially I built the system from Tom's high end build in Sept ( and installed Vista 32-bit on it. It installs okay, but then when it reboots to run vista off the HD (striped raid), it freezes with a black screen. In safe mode, it loads system32\config\system and system32\ntkrnlpa.exe and then freezes. I haven't done anything but the default install at this point. Any guidance would be awesome. Thanks!!

cancel the request - after a couple more tries at installing, it mysteriously worked...

My issue was a loose SATA cable if its not loose try a different cabel
