It seems solid......couple things

1) If you are running 4 gigs of RAM, get 64-bit Vista......32-bit will read only about 3.2 of it. 64 will use all of it

2) I wouldn't even bother with the solid state drive......it just doesn't seem worth it.....could be wrong

the solid state disk is not worth the cost, if you want a fast drive get a raptor, or 2 and put them in raid 0. also instead of 2 ultras i would go with 2 gt's or g92 gts.

I'm getting the solid state cause the guy who imports them is a friend of me and he wants me to test them on regular pc. So I get it a a cheap price.
I am still wondering if everything will run with 64bit windows ...

If you're getting 780i you might as well get a more powerful PSU and 3 GTX cards instead of two Ultras.

Get a SATA burner, not IDE.

I don't think SLI and multiple monitors mix well.

Is that case big enough and cool enough for that sort of video cards? No idea, just curious.

Is Be Quiet a reliable brand? Again, I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't know. I like Antec Quattro 850W.

You don't need Ultra SLI for a 20" monitor. Get a 30" Samsung 305T if you get more than a single GTX or Ultra.

Ok taking notes of this, for prices of the ssdisks, you can find them on www.ssdisk.eu but he's the european importer, you'll have to look for his american counterpart as he doesn't ship to usa.

What are the advantages of sata dvd drives?

and maybe you are right 2 ultras is abit overkill, 1 will do I can still upgrade to a newer card later on ...

You misunderstand, I want to know what you paid for them. I can get SSD pricing all day long.

Having a SATA DVD for the next MOBO that has no PATA ports at all. I don't know when that will happen, but that is the direction things are going. It also leaves the PATA port open for future use. Also, it uses smaller cables.

second thoughts:

Don't be a Guniea Pig by buying a brand new release mobo. Wait a few weeks until the reivews are in amd some other Guniea Pigs have shared their experience.

Get an E6750 and O/C or a Q6600, the 6850 is an overpriced underperformer. The same can be said of Vista - get XP Pro.

Get the best single GPU you can afford.

If you wait a few weeks then also look at the new Penryn CPUs (to be released next month). I'm sure a Q9450, with a bit of overclocking, will beat the E6850.

780i will support Triple SLI. Cards that support it too are the GTX and Ultra. The new 8800 GTS G92 and 8800 GT won't support it. For now I'd just buy one GTX or Ultra. Add a second or even a third when new games demand more power or when you upgrade the monitor. That computer will kick a$$ :)

well, I've read some tests of the mobo and they were all positive, besides I can't find a 680i anywhere in Belgium, been calling/mailing around and noone does seem to have it anymore.

As I already have one 20inch samsung I'm just getting a second one so they fit nicely together, I thought of getting a 30inch but I prefer working on 2 seperate monitors. Maybe if I have enough cash in the next round I'll get 2 30inches :)

On the cpu: the prize is ok and I'll get a penryn in Q2 when their prices have dropped.

So far on graphics: one ultra, with a dollar to euro conversion like this they are reasonably prized

Ok, great news, the new gigabyte nforce chipset (780i) won't arrive anywhere till first week of January ...
(I talked to the European sales representative)
Anyone can give me some alternatives or knows some stuff that'll be out by jan 2008?

like new graphic cards, cpus ...
