I just got my new computer today. All fine and fancy. It has a Gigabyte DS3R and only usb2 ports. The store were I bought it already installed xp. I have a Windows USB keyboard and a Razer Diamondback mouse and can connect both, but they can't send any signal to the computer. They get power via usb but I can't use them to tell my computer what to do...

Is my motherboard broken or do I just have to get a PS2 mouse and use it to install the drivers for the razer and the keyboard?

If it's a new machine, I'd take back and let them deal with it at no charge. You paid for the service, it's their responsibility to ensure the product works. Find out what the problem is, great opportunity for free education. Back in the day I learned an incredible amount from Dell tech support, when it was really good, fixing problems frequently because of something I did. Not likely to happen these days but you can learn something

4 USB & more.

My guess is they installed XP with another set of keyb/mouse. When you plug in USB keyb/mouse, XP will need to install drivers even though they were already installed. Stupid XP. Happens every time I test my family pc with PS/2 keyb/mouse. What I do is plug in an extra PS/2 mouse in addition to the USB keyb/mouse, then click next to install the drivers, & the USB keyb/mouse will work immediately. No reboot.
