Help adding new HD, XP not recognizing it

So just like the title says. I have just added a second SATA HD to my computer. It shows up in BIOS but when I go to Disk Management under control panel, only my original C drive shows up. I'm not really sure what I am suppose to do from this point. All I want to do is pull some old data off of the second drive, nothing fancy.

I had to run the CD that came with my Seagate HD.

Did you connect it to the sata port or raid port?

Use the cd that came with the hard drive to install the drive. If you didnt get one then go to the mfgrs website and download it and run it.

That should do it...

just download seatools from seagate
format the hd with seatools and you'll be good to go

His pc cant recognize the new hard drive. We are suggesting he formats the new hard drive so he can move the data from his old drive to the new one...

What confused me is that he wrote "I have just added a second SATA HD to my computer. " and "All I want to do is pull some old data off of the second drive, nothing fancy." I didn't realize that the second drive and the second SATA HD were not the same unit.
