After learning that my EVGA card was still warranted even after overclocking I decided to tinker around with it and see if I could crack the 10,000 point barrier in 3DMark06 (which I've done successfully btw :D).

My question is this, how much of a lifespan drop should I expect from a moderate OC - about 12.3% (513MHz -> 576MHz)? The temps are staying more or less identical to stock rates - 51-53 under light load, about 63 under heavy load (atitool, 3dmark06, etc.). This is my first build, much less my first OC, so I'm quite skittish about pushing it too far. I'd rather not even get to the point where it starts displaying artifacts (I kinda freaked when atitool OC'd the card to 721MHz and crashed the program within 12 seconds).

I have not done too much in-game testing to see the performance game. I'm happily maxing everything but Crysis well above 60fps. Crysis can range anywhere from 20-45 fps on stock settings (All very high w/ DX10 hack, 8x AA, 1440x900 or 1280x800). I expect to get a few more fps on it, but if it's gonna drop my card's lifespan a couple years, I'd rather just take the slight lag or turn a setting or two down a notch.

Well i don't know about how long these cards will last, but i do know you can easily get more performance out of those cards. Mine i can OC to 675mhz core and have the memory at 2000mhz (effective).

I have owned mine for about eight months and still running strong, but of course i have a zalman zf900 cooler on it and that keeps it better than stock.
