Im getting a new HDTV, trying to decide which would be better for watching DVD's. I have a 8800 640mb OC'd graphics card. Is it better to watch dvd's through the computer dvi-hdmi cable on the tv or to get a dvd upconverter?

The 8800 GTS 620 would probably do a decent upconversion on a DVD, and you'd want to turn on sharpening - an option in the drivers. I can't say from personal experience though as I haven't personally tested that.

Dedicated upconverters should do a good job too, but probably depends on the upconverter.

To be honest it's all just shades of crap no matter what route you take. Nothing I've seen does a great job at it.

huh? ever watched a sd dvd on a hd-dvd player? oppo maybe? ps3? you must live in a hole or something or just have terrible electronics.
