I had several problems buiding my new system. The latest is a "CPU uCode error".

I get it in when mobo does the inital check up.

Before all this I had problems with booting up the system, but later I
found out that one of the LGA 775 socket pin was bent. I used some
very fine tools to get it staight. Once I had it in somewhat good
shape the system booted up. All hardwares detected, and CPU info
posted right in the BIOS. However, I get the uCode error still. I
haven't installed the OS yet, because i wanted to see if this error is
going to be a problem.

Initially, I was thinking this problem is due to that bad pin, however
from other forums I'm getting the message that it is the BIOS, and
update will fix it. The whole system seems to be stable now (no
restarts anymore). The only concern is the ucode error. Searching intel
website, I found another name for it: "floating point mico-code".
Following is a paste from Intel Website:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FP Assist Performance Impact

80*100*FP
assist (uCode) / Clockticks

As a general guide these numbers have been derived from experienced
performance engineer

Low
0.2

High
1

High value for this ratio indicates that the floating point micro-code
assistant has been used. The floating point micro-code assistant has an
extremely poor performance. The floating point micro-code assistant is
usually executed when FP denormals (very close to zero numbers) are used
in calculations.

Advice:

Make sure data in your application stays in range.

Note

This event ratio is supported only on some Intel(R) Pentium(R)
M and Celeron(R) M processors.

What BIOS version do you have? You need at least version 0404 for quad core processors. If you need to update the BIOS use EZ Flash2 method. WARNING; DO NOT UPDATE BIOS WITH ASUS UPDATER in WINDOWS!!!!!! Check the ASUS Forum for more info. I was going to put a link for you but as you will find out the ASUS site is very busy.

Edit: I see you have already been to the ASUS web site.
