Both drives seem nearly identical from the stats I can find, the Samsung does have 32MB cache were as the WD has 16MB but apart from that the seem very similar...

Is one better than the other and why, or is more a matter of brand preference and/or which has the better price?

Would either of these drives have any problem used in a NAS in RAID 1? I ask because I saw a negative review on newegg (see below) where a member posted a reply from WD stating that these drives are desktop and not suitable for RAID after he had troubles using them in RAID... but I have seen many posts on here where members have used the WD Greens used in Raid arrays so I am a little confused as to whether or not to use them in a RAID...

Dear Darshan,

Thank you for contacting Western Digital Customer Service and Support.

The WD10EACS is a desktop drive. WD desktop drives do not work properly when used in a RAID array. I recommend you exchange your WD10EACS drives for the RAID model, WD1000FYPS.
