Hard to believe BB has any decent computer prices, but those are great deals.

I paid $238 each for my BFG 8800GT 512MB OC's at Best Buy. When etailers are gouging above retail prices, the retail chains like BB can be the best place to buy with MSRP regular prices and 10% off sales making things even better.

But then there is the other extreme, which is more usual. Like over $250 for an 8600GTS:

Isn't it just bizarre though? Usually we hardware guys have to go online to sites like newegg to get the best deals, as the local stores like BB have terrible selection or pricing!!! What is going on!?

I still love checking local stores to see what they have in stock. For some reason I can't get enough of it.

So as of yesterday my local Circuit City had:

- for the first time ever a high end card. Of course, it was the 8800 GTS 320 and the price was $349.99.

- The next step down (as far as I could see) was a 2600 xt and they were listed at $249.99.

- most of the other cards were several gens old and most were listed over $100. I saw 7300 GTs and 1050 xts (?). I can't believe these kinds of cards sell at the prices they're asking (they have since I moved here almost 7 years ago). No wonder my local Best Buys and Circuit Cities never get anything good.

The 3800s are only available online and the 3870 has been sold out for a while now.

I bought a 3850, still debating on whether or not I should return it and get a 3870 (Which will come out to like 245 w/ shipping+tax) or just going to my Local BB and getting a BFG GT OC 8800 for 250$). The good thing about buying @ BB now is that you can return it until Jan 31st even if you bought it online and that store doesn't have the item in stock.

Yep, I was in Best Buy yesterday and I saw an 8800GT for less than what I paid at Newegg. Odd. That's a killer deal on the 3870 too. Is this really the store that sells an 8600GT for $188.99 (on sale too) :lol:

I don't mean to thread hijack, but BB does have some nice stuff in their store. I just tried to get the 320GB Seagate that they had there for $60, but they were sold out at my store. I wasn't in the video card section, so I didn't see any of those. This late in the season, a local store is going to be your only hope. Thank god they aren't trying to gouge us toooo bad.

Sometimes, retail stores (even the one I work at) runs great deals. I've picked up 2GB of DDR2-800 for $50 one day at CompUSA. It's just always of question of needing the item when it's on sale. After that, forget it. I mean, at my job we have a 7300LE going for $100, and a FX5200 for $90.

$5 cheaper than what? The Visiontek at Newegg or $5 cheaper than bestbuy. From what I have seen the Sapphire 3870 is $50 more at newegg than BB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102713
