All,

I have a quick question. I have a intel heatsink from Quad Core Q9300, and I was wondering if there is anyway to use that on a AMD X2 4200 chip?

Thanks.

Duct tape?

No not really, the Intel cooler will not have the retention mechanism that AMD uses, or the means to attach an AMD mechanism because it is an Intel cooler, made by Intel for Intel, no other intents or purposes.

As daft said, it is technically possible. The heatsink/fan themselves are universal in concept, the difference is the "fixture" (the retention mechanism). Some aftermarket coolers come with fixtures to accommodate many sockets, but, as you might guess, Intel nor AMD ship fixtures that would fit the other's socket.

Really not worth the trouble/risk involved in modding an existing HSF when you can get good ones for less than 40$.
