i just want to know which of these two will be better. anybody have one of these settings??
im deciding between these and i really dont know what should i get
Honestly.I would get the 8800GT and save for a second one a little down the road.2 8600GT's in SLI will disapoint you somewhat as they can't keep up with one 8800GT.I have the EVGA 8800GT superclock edition and it just screams through BIOSHOCK and OBLIVION like sleighing down a snow covered hill in winter.Lots of fun.I have already ordered my other 8800GT,although it might be a week or two till I get it.I will say one more thing.2-8800GTs in SLI will outperform even the 8800GTX SLI in a lot of benchmarks.Goodluck.

If you just looked at the number of stream processors and completely ignored the issues that come with an SLI setup... you'd STILL want the 8800 GT. There's a reasonably priced laptop out now with an SLI'd 8600 GT setup... personally, I'm waiting to see what a single 8800 series GPU is going to run... more performance AND less hassle. Caveat emptor!
depends on waht you lookin for hower in 99% of apps the 1 8800 will be the weiner however if it was 2 512mb versions of hte 8600 u might see some kinda performance boost. jsut meh awnser from personal knoledge. like at super high res plus u might be able to get for less mulah.

I'd like to see one benchmark... no matter how obscure... that shows an 8600 SLI setup beating a single 8800 GT. The number of stream processors tells me that the 8800 GT is going to have more GPU muscle... the 8600's 128 bit memory bus means it'll be doing all it can to keep up with the 8800's 256 bit memory bus... then you factor in a little overhead for SLI... and lastly, 2 SLI's 512 MB cards don't equal a 1 GB card... doesn't work that way. As far as pricing goes... I suppose an SLI 8600 setup COULD be cheaper... but I don't have anything to base this on.
Good choice on the 8800GT. Besides, some games don't support SLI (and some that do can have issues as mentioned). When they don't, you're stuck with a single 8600GT. That's not what you want
