dvd writer does not initialises

In my new build system, I upgraded exixting OS to window xp professional sp3. After wards dew to some mistake, now Samsung SH-S223Q/BEBN SATA LightScribe Black 22X DVD-Writer does not get initialise, it does not recognises any cd/dvd etc., I tried to update online with new firmware/s but nothing works out.I wanted to again put the previous OS i.e. XP home sp2 but the DVD drive does not bootsup with this OS cd. When I start the pc and want to bootup with cd , pc does not recognises any cd. What can I do now? Please help me with your suggestions. A lot of thanks in advance.

Happened to my SH-S223F, it wouldnt read any sort of media. Returned to SCAN for a replacement even though i dont want that drive again.
