I get serious graphics problems in certain games such as Bioshock, Swat 4, Team Fortress 2, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.
Team Fortress 2 and those other games for me ran beautifully before today. I started to get these graphical errors, making the game unplayable. I use the drivers that came with my graphics card (I know...) but the point is that the games I played ran fine with these drivers before. The version fo the drivers is 6.14.0010.6734 and CCC is not installed. Here is an example of my problems:
I also had these problems before (around the time I bought the card) with other games, such as Bioshock and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, but I fixed them by forcing vertical sync on with ATi Tray Tools for those games only and they worked. I don't know why forcing V-sync fixed it and it was by luck as well. The problem only showed up for those two games at the time, not any of the others. I tried to do the same thing for TF2, but it did not work.
I'm inclined to say that this is a hardware problem, but last time when I had the same problem, I fixed it by forcing vertical sync. I do not remember doing anything different with my computer that would cause a problem like this.
I used ATi Tool to see if I could find any artifacts and to see if it was a temperature problem.
From what I'm aware, those load temperatures are normal, since I always recall it would hit 70C under load even when the card was working fine. I'm starting to think it's my RAM on the GPU that is damaged or it's vertical sync problems again.
I also noticed that when I put all my settings on low in TF2, while keeping my res at 1024x768, the game ran problem free, then about after 10-15 minutes of playing, the problems occurred again. For some reason, in other games, it seems to play fine for a while, no matter what quality settings, but if I look at some certain object, or if I reach some certain point in a level, the problems occur.
