planning on getting a p5e ws board but im an MB noob!

hi all,

im thinking of buying an asus p5e ws, but have some questions regarding a couple of issues for owners of this board

Whats the cpu fan pwm control in the bios like? My current board has 3 options (silent/optimal/performance) but a friends mb has options so that the cpu fans rpm can be set in 10% increments (although it was an nforce board)

what is the extra long slot for between the pcie slots?

Does the chip get much hotter than 35c? If so i may have to get a case with better ventilation (Does the temp depend on the fsb its running at? if so i dont think this is an issue since i plan to keep my e6700 that already runs at 1066fsb)

Where is the second heatsink below the ram slots? seeing as similar boards have 2 heatsinks or one big one.

is there much difference between this board & its bigger p5e3 & p5e64 brothers apart from a couple of added features (sos etc) & the ability to use ddr3?
