Hi guys, i've got a £500 budget +/- a small amount and basically i'm aiming to build a new system for this price. It wont be the best out there but i hope to make it upgradeable in the future.
The system will mostly be used for gaming but also film editing.
I already have a case but will need a large PSU as the one i currently have is a meer 350W!
I was thinking along the following lines.... (i'm using www.overclockers.co.uk for prices... let me know if there are any cheaper out there!)
This comes to a total of £ 583, however, i have another problem of only having an ATA harddrive. So i would also need to consider that. I have a DVD/RW already that i can use.
Any ideas how i can reduce the price or is there a motherboard out there with more than 1 x IDE (So i can use my existing hardrive as well as not having to buy a new SATA DVD/RW which will be future proof and compatible with the new 45nm chips?
If you don't overclock, drop the zalman. Use intel's hsf.
If you must have 2 ide connectors on the mobo, your only option is nvidia chipsets or older intel chipsets which don't do Core 2. 650i is a good budget board. 650i can overclock quite well.
I'm not sure what that psu brand means. Get a tier 3:
I myself am currently in the market for a system around that price and i picked out a very similar setup. Only difference was i went with HD3870 (They seem to be a LOT cheaper than 8800GT in the UK atm) with an E4500 as i don't really see the point in quad core atm. Also pairing that with an Antec Sonata III, nice looking case with a decent PSU as standard.
