Hdd has winXP on it, as well as 50gb+ of files/apps that I need to keep, getting pretty much an all new PC (everything new minus the drives and PSU), going from amd to intel, nvidia to ati, agp to pci xpress, is there any chance to remove the drivers in device manager and then just connect the HDD without reformatting to the new components and having it run? Poss. do a windows instal. repair?

no you are going from one chipset amd to intel and agp to pci,you could try removing the above while still installed in old system ,who knows you might get lucky, but you will need an aftermarket utility like "Your Uninstaller"
or you could check out " majorgeeks.com" for free utils that might do the same,,note it would help if you have done this before as there a lot of gotcha's in the registry, the other protocol would be to copy out what you want to keep to another partition on the same hdd then you just have to format the primary partition,,OR,,borrow a small 80g hdd copy your stuff there and do what you need to do to the other hdd,,i have done what you propose many times but,it was usually with the same chipset, and same everything else, windoze will hiccup a few times but, usually settles down, still some things will act up and need a talking to...:)
