I have an X800 CE card with a P35-DS4 Mobo, and am wondering if I'm better off to get another X800 card (whether GT, XT, PRo, etc.) or if it makes more sense to purchase a single newer/better card?
Is this a Pixel Shader 2 card? is 3 a big step up in quality/performance?

Its not so much that 3 is a step up in performance(minor step in quality), but that newer cards are the ones with support for SM3, so therefore they tend to perform better. I would avoid another X800, as you can buy a new card for around the same price that performs much better. Look at the X1950GT if you are on a budget, if you can afford an HD 3850, that is a good step up, and if you want to pay a bit more money get an 8800GT. All 3 of those should outperform X800 crossfire in most cases.
My mainboard is a crossfire compatible board so I'd probably like to stick with the ATI stuff, The x1950 pro is $170 today at my local parts store. The ultimate is $270! however, it doesn't look to be worth the extra $100
You may be able to find an X800 series card real cheap, but if it were me I'd be buying an HD3850 and trying to sell that X800 master card for a pretty penny. One 3850 is going to creme two X800 series cards and BestBUy has them on sale for $144 right now(sold out online).
you must be in the USA...bestbuy canada doesn't carry them, and futureshop.ca has them for $199 which is $20 more than my local parts shop (Visiontek, HIS, Sapphire, Diamond Viper: $179), or for $214, I can get the 512MB version...but how does it compare to the x1950 series?
