I am planning on buying a new cpu/motherboard combo..I can't decide between a Asus M2N-SLI/AMD 6000+ or a ASUS P5N-E SLIand a E6750. These combo's are within $12 of each other here locally. I know the 6750 is better, but is it that much better? I already have a 8800GT to go with them, my goal is better FPS in crysis. I'm already getting 90-100fps in COD4 with my old single core 939 AMD 3700+. Basically I'm an AMD fan, but the performance advantage the newer intels have is hard to ignore. Any thoughts? Will the phenoms get better in the future and the 6000 will do for now? If I do go with the intel, is that a good board to go with? SLI isn't required for me, but is something I might do in the future... These are the boards I can get...

From what everyone says, the E6750's are extremely easy* to overclock. I doubt the performance difference between the two is going to be jaw-dropping, so I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Will the phenoms get better in the future and the 6000 will do for now?
The Phenom's may very well require a new board / socket as they failed most AM2 compatibility tests. That is mostly the motherboard manufacturers fault for not releasing new BIOS, but meh.

The most popular Intel boards for overclocking seem to be the ASUS P5, GA-P35-DS3 series, or the Abit P5K's.

rgeist554,
its ASUS P5K and ABIT IP35 PRO mate :)

440newport,
Non OC : E6750>X2 6000
OC potentional : E6750>X2 6000
So definitely go for E6750 with a P35 chipset and upgrade to 45nm CPUs when they are out

Phenom CPUs still cant beat Intel Core2Duo CPUs and also they have failed the compatibility tests with most of current motherboards (as rgeist554 said )
