Hi there...it's my first post so please be kind. I am in the process of upgrading my computer (with some help from friends) but I've been on a pretty strict budget due to a baby on the way.

Here are the components I've already purchased....

CPU
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz Socket AM2 65W Processor Model ADO4400DDBOX - Retail (price $85)

Vidcard
EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6814130085

CPU cooler
ZEROtherm Nirvana NV120 120mm 2-ball (price $32.99) - I have arctic silver
http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6835887011

MoBo
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard ($80)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 813131013R

RAM
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) (The vidcard and RAM were $115 together after rebates)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820148076

Here is what I want to salvage...
2x 80GB SATA HDD in Raid0 config

IDE DVD-R and CD-R drives

Antec case (SLK3700BQE) with Antec SL350s PSU

Ok, so my concern is the power supply of course. It doesn't have a PCI-e cord (which I'm assuming I'll need) and it's pretty low wattage. I was looking at some PSUs ...

Thermaltake Purepower W0100RU ATX 12V 2.0 500W Power Supply ($25 after rebate)
http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6817153052

or a reasonably prices case/PSU combo (preferably with a clear side for asthetics)

So my questions are....

1) Any major issues with this setup...

2) Can the 350W PSU work in the interim or am I screwed without a PCI-e connector?

Thanks so much in advance for any help I can get!

You shouldn't need the PCIe connector for the 8600GT. I wouldn't get an open box mobo or anything else for that matter, it was sent back for a reason. The HSF that comes with the retail CPU will be fine unless your seriously overclocking. If your not seriously overclocking this RAM would work. With what you save get a retail version of that mobo. One of my granddaughters and I just built pretty much the same machine for her recently.

Thanks for the reply....

I was a little worried about the who open box thing. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. I was planning on overclocking (maybe up to 2.8-2.9GHz) the CPU, and got the HSF for that purpose.

My plan is currently to immediately start testing the MoBo and of course return it if there's any issue. If the Mobo has an issue, I'll return the HSF and use the difference to get a retail MoBo.

Any other opinions/advice?
