i been gathering some informations in this forum and
im just about to start my first water cooling system.
sinse the main reason im going for water cooling is for the noiseless system
and i really dont care how burdensome it looks in my room,
i am thinking of using multiple car radiators or heater cores
instead of one heater core with noisy fan.
if its hard to find one with little rust or corrosion inside at junkyard,
where can i buy clean radiators at best price?

You can buy noiseless systems that aren't car radiators too, and besides, I'm not sure how loud the pump would have to be to push the solution through all that distance. You might be better off just going with a smaller noiseless solution.

ebay? Dunno why you would want a car radiator for watercooling a pc.

I bet the uglyness would get to you eventually.

You might want to look into Transmission Coolers as an option. I haven't really looked into the heat transfer in relation to the radiators for PC water cooling, but I would bet they fare well. I had a friend that put one on a harley as an oil cooler and it worked well.

STRKR// i saw most poeple use fan on their radiator or heater core. so i figured if the radiator's area is as large as 1 or 2 car radiator, it would work as better only with the rooms convection current

There are noiseless, radiator-based PC coolers available. I don't see why you would need to construct a cooler from a car radiator especially when your everyday liquid-cooler pump would not be able to push it through anyway.

Resorator 1 looks very neat.

Heater cores work well also, and are typically cheaper than PC radiators. Of course, they require you to cut the barbs and solder/JB Weld new barbs on to fit hose sizes and don't have screw mounts. Honestly, I think heatercores cool better than PC rads in similar size comparisons and typically have a lot more copper in them. Most PC rads have primarily aluminum which doesn't transfer heat as well.

Rubix,

Most car heater cores and radiators (at least for older cars) are brass. And unlike aluminum do not react with copper in a water cooling loop.

"good price" usually means cheap.

a car junkyard. an old BMW 2002 radiator might be
a good candidate.

Steer away from the Reserator, or anything Zalman for W/Cing really.

This is an excellent build using a car rad passively, only cost the guy $75 for the rad off ebay! Keep in mind though that you will want to get a very strong pump to be able to handle this properly. My recommendation is an Iwaki RD-20/30, but most any Iwaki will do.

hi im was looking to buy some cheap radiators and i found this site www.northwestradiators.co.uk based in salford near manchester i saved over £300 on 7 rads, dearest rad i got was a 600mm x 2000mm single £60 :o :o :o cant find it cheaper anywhere in the uk
