I looking into replacing my current All-Purpose rig in Q108. This is the rig that I do everything on before migrating it to a dedicated system (Gamer/HTPC/Business). I'm pretty much set on the Q9450 for a processor and whatever motherboard is available for a reasonable price (sub $120). I'm more concerned about memory.
As I recall from last year, there was a sharp increase in the price of memory right after the holidays, so I'm looking to purchase RAM now while the prices are still low. My question is, what 2x2048 Meg DDR2 memory do I purchase that will best match up with the 1333FSB of a Q9450?
With no OC, single sided DDR2 667 "value ram" will be fine. A current P35 based MB would also be fine.
As for brands, I prefer Gigabyte MBs with Crucial ram. For non OC, even an ECS board would work using the same ram. ECS boards are perfectly fine for stock speed systems.
