Hey everybody, I'm gathering a list of parts for my new computer, and I have most of the parts, but I really just need to know a good mobo to go with what I have so far. Any and all suggestions are wanted.

Mobo: Need help here. Was thinking about the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4. I don't need Crossfire or SLi.
Cpu: Intel Q6600 2.4GHz
RAM: Crucial BallistiX 2GB dual channel
Video Card: Some help here, but will pour the rest of my funds into this. It looks like nVidia is top of the market right now, but I'm good with ATI too. Looking at ~$250-$300 range.
HDD: Seagate Barricuda 250 GB
Optical Drive: Samsung DVD-writer w/LightScribe
PSU: Not quite sure either.
Sound and Network integrated.

I'm not looking for anything fancy, but I would like to be able to overclock and do some gaming (ET:QW, CoD4, and the such) with preferably video settings above medium. I also plan on doing some 3D work hopefully and a lot of video editing. Thanks for any help.

Hello and welcome to the forums mate :)
Get a 8800GT or 8800GTS (512MB )version + OCZ STEALTHXSTREAM 600W

The motherboard looks good, and as Maziar said, the 8800GT (~$280) or GTS(512) (~$350) are both excellent cards.

ATI has some decent cards, but you're right, Nvidia does have the best GPU's out at the moment. If you are interested, ATI has the HD3850 (~$170) which is the best budget card I can think of, and the HD3870 (~$250-270) which is like the 8800GT's competitor card.

Well I finished up my preliminary list and was hoping I could get a look-over and see if anything is needed to be changed or added.

Motherboard – Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4
CPU – Q6600 2.4Ghz
RAM – Crucial BallistiX 2x1GB
Video Card – eVGA 8800 GT
HDD – Seagate 250GB
Optical – Samsung DVD-writer w/LightScribe
Case – Antec 900
PSU – OCZ 600W Stealth
Heatsink – Thermalright 120
Fan – Scythe S-Flex

If you think a part should be changed, or perhaps more cooling is needed, my ears are open. Thanks for any help! :)

Bumping! Any last things I should fix before I order the parts? Or does this look like a solid build? Thanks :)

Good job finding the Q6600 a little cheaper than newegg. :p Anyways, the build looks great. Have fun with it. :D

*That's a very good price for the Ballistix too. :O

Well, I'm pretty much set on ordering up 3 of these for me and a couple mates, but one of the dudes is concerned about the PSU. I do intend to OC the cpu, ram, and maybe the video card; Nothing extreme mind you, but the cpu to at 3.0-3.2GHz, and not sure about ram and video card since I've never OC'd in my life. So, is 600W going to be good enough after OC'ing? Also, am I going to need more cooling in my system other than what the 900 supplies and the crazy heatsink+fan? Once again, I'm grateful for any input. Thanks :D

OCZ STEALTHXSTREAM 600W is a solid PSU and will handle that rig fine(even with OverClocking)

That is a Canadian website. So the prices are probably in Canadian dollars, which, alas, are doing much better than US$.

Hey everyone, once again. Due to Christmas I havn't been able to get my parts yet :( But, I am looking to change the mobo! I'm looking for an SLI-capable board that is very good with OC'ing. I'm not really concerned with price, and looking around I don't really know where to start. Could anybody offer any advice? Also, if I do happen to add a second 8800GT in the future (which I probably will) should I upgrade the PSU to a 700W? Thanks for the help! I'd be stuck if it weren't for you guys.

ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS is the best price/performance SLI motherboard, has the features of STRIKER but costs alot cheaper however are u sure u want to SLI ?
