Dell inspiron 531s is not detecting the mouse or keyboard

Hi. Is it a wireless, USB or a Serial mouse and or keyboard? You can try to unplug the keyboard (if it is a serial connector, which is has a round end and look to see if any pins are bent), then plug it back in. Do not attempt to do this with both. If you get Vista to recognise it and install its' driver, reboot and do the same for the mouse.

If you have a USB connector (has a oblong end) then try to place the connector into another port.

Both the mouse and keyboard are wireless, I tried a different mouse that I use for my laptop it is also wireless, but does have usb, my pc still did not detect it. My computer is running Vista.
