Hey dudes....iv overcloked my p4 from 2.4 to 3 ghz with no problems just increased the number in the bios ...went from 200 to 250...but when i tryed to go over 250 it just went blackscreen then i had to reflash my bios ..... so in order to go higher then 250 do i need to give it more voltage?? im just scard cuz i dont kno how high i can go i have a decent after market cooler and it does its job quite well ..my mobo is a asus p4c 800 ....what would a good voltage be ? something thats not too high, i dont wanna take it to boarderline limits just wanna get over 3 ghz stable!
Well you might be able to get a little higher with more voltage though. You can always try it.
If you're afraid of doing it, just make sure you only increase the voltage as little as possible. If you haven't increased the voltage at all yet, then I'm sure raising it a little won't hurt anything.
lol i hope you boys wont start a intel vs amd scenario.
but anyway.im getting a p4 3ghz HT socket 478 soon.so i will let you know how i get on.i got no voltage adjustment on my BIOS.so im pretty much on the limit of OC.
what CPU cooler you using?
