I didn't buy a monitor but That's for later. I stayed close to my budget so is ok. Thanks for all the fedback I got. When I finally get all the components here (I guess that could be around late January or maybe February) I post how was it when finished building

Hi, well this is the first time I want to build a new computer and to be honest the computer is going to be mostly for gaming and is intended to be as most high end possibly. I don't know too much about hardware but I think I got the basics covered. My budget is about 1800 $ (although I could spend 200 more) and need to buy before 31/12 because I'm from venezuela and the amount of dollars you can have is regulated. Also I only buy at amazon since neeweg or other pages don't send their stuff here. Ok now to the components, I been reading a lot and got this system build, lets see what everybody here can recommend or correct me:

The list:
.....
--- edited (see final list above) ---
.....

When I put all of this in my shopping list the total is 1803.54 $ :D

Ok now I think is important to say the next:

1) The Power supply theme I don't know much about it. If that ps that I chosse isn't good please explain why it is
2) The configuration of the hard drives I either don't know too well how are they suposed to be put, I just read that combination is great for gaming
3) Overclocking I have no idea how to do it but I plan to learn how to since the procesor and the video card I chosse I read that they overclock very well and give great bang for the buck
4) The sound card is really necesary? The computer is for gaming and again I read it's great for gaming to have a good sound card

Anyone had anything to say about this? should I put another product instead of any of the products I use there?
Sorry if I sound like a robot but my english is a little basic... It took me 30 min to write all of this

Thanks

The PhysX card increases performance in a small number of games (UT3 comes to mind). It's probably not worthwhile.

Using a soundcard instead of integrated sound will offload a little bit of processing from the CPU to the card itself. It's not really necessary, but lots of people like it.

That chip will overclock decently.

I'd suggest ordering a Corsair HX520 or HX620 or VX550 or a PC P&C 610 Silencer over that option, though only to save money Toughpower is rated at 2nd tier, but that's more power than you'll ever need.

Just for the record, the triple-SLI 8800GTX (power hog) drew like 770W from the wall over at Anandtech's review.

DDR2-1066 is unnecessary. Save some money with DDR2-800. If you want to spend the money, you might consider a q6600 instead of the 6750.

Uhm... that's very interesting so I modified the budget a little bit and do this:

PS:
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610
http://www.amazon.com/Power-Cooling-Silencer-610-EPS12V/dp/B000VMWJ1K/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1198107265&sr=1-8
139.95

RAM:
Corsair 2GB PC6400 800MHz DDR2 (2x1024) 5-5-5-12
http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-PC6400-800MHz-240-Pin-TWIN2X2048-6400/dp/B000CDLCGG/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1198107748&sr=1-20
74.99

CPU:
Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2.40GHz, 8M L2 Cache
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Q6600-quad-core-processor-2-40GHz/dp/B000LRMR26/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1198107917&sr=1-1
279.99

Now about the sound card... what you're saying is that the card will consume some cpu processing capability? my gaming experience will be affected a lot or just a bit? The sound card makes really better the sound efects? I'm not too picky about it, normally I play using a headset anyway

The budget with those changes goes like this:

With the sound card: 1753.93 $

Without it: 1673.94 $

Oh and i forgot to say that I'm planning on making this system SLI but I preffer to go for just one good video card now and buy 2 better one's later on (just expecting to see if a better card lands and drops the prices of the others :p). With everythig I got on my sistem the PC P&C 610 Silencer will be enough when I install a set of 2 video card's?

Thanks for the help

I didn't knew about that mobo, thanks for the advice. Well I been looking for info on the 780i and is a really new board to hit the market, and I'm not sure to buy something so new where doesn't exist any review about it yet, I prefer to stick to a reliable 680i board but I also look for info on the asus striker and read that some people have problems with it. Anyone has a recomendation on a better mobo for a newbie to system build like me? And also that the board be Overclocking friendly since I'm expecting to learn how to do it. Should I stick to the asus anyway? It's too much money(320 $) for the striker and should buy other card? please advice on this

And other thing... I was thinking to switch the 8800 gt for a 8800 gts (G92) in amazon costs 359.99 $ and includes free crysis game! The gts has better cooling properties and is a better card for gaming (not too much better than the gt but stil is) and since I read that 8800 gt have some problems with cooling then it seems better to switch to a card with better coollig capabilities since I live in a very hot enviroment. What do you guys think?

Thanks

A seperate sound card isn't necessary for gaming, it's nice and everything but since you're on a budget you're better of just using onboard, and even so onboard sound these days is pretty sweet. The CPU usage of onboard sound used to be a small issue, but with CPU speeds these days it's not noticible. That cash would be better spent on a nicer graphics card, 8800 GT maybe. Also your motherboard is a little excessive, that price for a card with a 680i chip is a little high, regardless of what you're using it for.

Yeah, I was tinking that specially since I don't plan to use the computer to do something big with media or video editing, it seems excessive to buy a sound card so I decided to forget about it and go for a 8800 GTS (G92) 512MB since the price isn't too much more than the 8800 GT (60$ more)

And the mobo... well I got a little problem... can only buy on amazon since I couldn't find any other page that send to my country (if only I could buy in neweeg) and there aren't many options to pick a mobo with a 680i chipset... remember I wannna put a sli system later on, not interested in crossfire (I know ati is cheaper and had more mobo's to chosse from but almost every review I seen nvidia beats ati on high end and that's the segment where I'm going to)

I know I could get better parts and prices if I wait a couple of weeks but I need to buy now (seriusly tomorrow I'll check out everything I had in my shopping list on amazon) I contacted a company that could send the items to me but is kind of urgent to get the products send to miami so they can send me everything

Also the PS (PC P&C 610 Silencer) it ran out of existence in amazon so I have to chosse another. Since this is the issue I'm more ignorant I chosse a few and want to see what everybody thinks is better:

Any thoughs people? Is kind of urgent please help me out
