I have problems with my computer. I get the normal one beep which means i have no ram problems. Once I'm in windows and am doing normal things, the hard drive will stop spinning and then I have to reset my computer. So, I thought it was the hard drive. So i went out and bought a brand new 500Gb SATA hard drive. Same Problem. Sometimes, when it will stop spinning, it will happen at the same place. Could it be that my motherboard is not telling the hard drive to spin? This doesnt happen in the bios though. I ran the Extended memory test from the vista install disc and there was no problems. If I'd replace the motherboard, it'd be with the Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe. This is very frustrating because it shouldn't do this and I don't have a problem with my crappy acer laptop or my crappy emachines which are both running vista. I have a Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 motherboard

How do you know the hard drive stops? Have you checked you power management options? Are you overclocked?

Yea, hard drives don't make a whole lot of noise, how do you know it's powered off? Make no assumptions. Any number of things can make your PC lock up.

That doesn't mean it couldn't be bad, just had a new Antic Neo go out on me.
