I have a FPD2185W 21" Gateway monitor, a sapphire hd 3870, with vista home prem and for some reason i cant get the 1680x1050 resolution. I've searched all kinds of forums and the answer was usually uuuum idk, which does not help. I'm hoping to get some better help here. tnxs in advance for any help

Did you load the driver file for the monitor? With my Samsung 22" I didnt get the correct resolutions unitl I loaded a driver.

ill try finding the drivers online tnx. i seem to have found another problem. It's a new custom computer and it seems like its running worse than my old one when playing games. For example cod4 i would get 90 fps online with my 7800gt, and with this new 3870 on same settings i get 60fps. Do you guys think the cards messed up or could it be something else.

system specs:
k9a Platinum
2gb Mushkin Xtreme
AMD Athlon™64 X2 6000+
Sapphire hd 3870

Do you have verticle sync on? If you do that could lock your FPS at 60 since that is the refresh rate of your monitor.

It is a BRAND NEW card, I also have it, I have run into those problems also, lower frame rates than i expect in some games but I think they will be fixed fast with upcoming drivers. But I always get my 1680x1050 option so it must be your monitor drivers.

ATI drivers are normally a little spotty until the second revision or so. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, unless your performance is so bad that you're getting chop.

tnx i'll wait for the new drivers before i worry. It was getting stuck upon game start up but a simple reseating of the memory fixed that.

I' also having a gateway FPD2185w monitor connected on ATI Radeon x300se (on HP7250n + vista 32) and cannot go over 1024 x 768

Did you succeded in changing your resolution to 1680 x 1050 ?
