hey folks,
am planning to get
asus maximum extreme,
intel q6600 quad cpu
asus or gigabyte geforce 8800GT DDR3 512 VGA (which brand would you recommend???)
kingston 2 x 1 GB DDR3 1800 MHz RAM
seagate barracuda 7200.10 (750 GB) and 7200.9 (500 GB) SATA 2 HDDs
arctic freezer 7 pro cooler (is this noisy?? or silent??)

I'll be using large databases, some high-speed gaming.

I need your recommendations for the following:
1-a case, if possible mini, or at least not larger than midi, right side will be placed to the wall, so I need to have the fans on the left side (or preferable on the front), usb and if possible also headphone/speaker out at the FRONT, it should keep the temp quite down and it should be QUIET!! Something where I wouldn need to get additional coolers or power sources would be better.

2-do I need an additional power unit for this? if so, what would you recommend?? I'm planning to more RAM in the future, and fill all 4 slots. And maybe, if it is possible, to install a second VGA (is this possible??)

many thanks in advance!!

o.m.

I'm getting the same motherboard and processor as you.

For a case, don't forget the motherboard is oversized so you need and EATX (extended ATX) case. They come in mid or full towers but I am getting the Thermaltake VH6000BWS.

Power supply: The highly respected PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad (Crossfire Edition) EPS12V 750W Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, RoHS. It is the one painted red.

Don't forget to make sure you get a Q6600 that is G0 Core Stepping.

XFX 8800GTS512 cause I want the Lost Planet game.

Crucial 4GB kit(2GBx2) DDR3 PC3-8500 RAM cause Crucial is the only (2GBx2) kit I found that is guaranteed to work with the Maximus Extreme.

I am just going to use the stock CPU cooler to start.

If you are thinking of getting a second 8800GT and using SLI the maximus extreme is not the board for you *(the X38 supports ATI xfire only) - if you want SLI get something like the Asus p5n-d

Oh and another thing - dont get the maximus extreme anyway as Asus have replaced it with the newer Rampage Formula

My PC components: P5E-WS, Q6600-G0, 8800GTS-512 MB, all SATA storage devices (1 hard drive and 2 DVD-writers).

I use Antec 182b (all fans set to low) and Cosair 620W and all OK.

I also use Freezer Pro-7 and they are quite noisy at full speed of about 2600 RPM. I then activated Asus Q-Fan and it worked out great. At idle, the CPU fan will run at about 900 RPM. At full load, the CPU core temp will jump to 58c and the fan would run at about 2100 RPM. The noise level at idle at very, very low and at 2100 RPM, it's still acceptable.
