Sata drive

Hello, a friend had a 7 box but not the horse power to run 7. I then formatted and tried to load a copy of xp. initially xp sees the drive to copy the files but blue screens after the initial reboot to begin the load
how does one get the sata drivers to remain loaded so that the install can finish?

Use nlite to slipstream SP2 into the install disc.
