Here's a good rule of thumb right now in the PC world: Intel processors are better than AMD processors.

With that out of the way, we will need some more info before we can start making worthwhile suggestions. Specifically, what is your budget?

i have both parties. amd 6400 2x 8800gtx oc2 and an intel qx9650 2x8800 ultras and the both run fine obviously the intel still wins but they both do just fine:)

What?!? Where have you been for the past year? Intel has the best CPUs for gaming. Just take a look at the benchmarks.

Agreed :)

Good suggestions on processor and RAM, but the 256MB 8800GT kind of sucks. Instead I'd look at a 512MB HD3850. Or spend the extra for a real 512MB 8800GT.

For a PSU I would look at this list. It hasn't been updated in a while, but it is a great starting point. Here's a few suggestions of my own as well:

XCLIO STABLEPOWER 500W: This is a solid Channel Well built PSU for a great price
SeaSonic SS-500ES: It's a SeaSonic.
CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX: Last but not least, this is the one you're looking for. Buy this power supply now :)

Newegg wont work right now but i trust you, if i got this computer what do you think that the fps in some of the top games would be, crysis bioshock, and cod4?
what do you think that the e6550 could oc to on stock, or maybe a zalman cooler?

I think personally, AMD gives better value. IE you may not get as fast of a chip or mobo, but you do get more money to put into something that makes more difference in games, such as video card, etc. For example for $150 I could go on newegg, get a board, amd athlon 4000+x2 socket am2 and 2 gb of pc6400 ddr2 memory for 150, then have more to spend on video card etc, where most of the time is what really matters for your performance in games.
