Ok so I'm trying to sort this machine with xp professional on it - it had a hal.dll error and because I haven't got an admin password I can't do a chkdsk /r in recovery console or anything else I've read up on as a remedy for this....
So I decided to boot from xp cd and format the HD and reinstall windows - this is all well and good as the computer is booting fine now, the only thing is that now when the machine is turned on it gives 2 instances of xp professional but I can't understand how as I formatted the HD.
Why is it doing this?
Is this detrimental to the running of this computer?
Thanks in advance!
