Hi All,

After a lot of research and reading these forums, I decided to try to build my first rig with the following components.

GA-P35-DS3L
Intel E6750 @ stock
Corsair 620HX
BFG 8800GT OC
2 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
Tuniq Tower CPU Cooler
Arctic Silver 5
Antec P182 ATX case + the usual optical drives

However, I am having problems getting it to POST. I explicitly followed the motherboard manual and installed everything the way I should, but the screen didn't show anything after I turned my rig on. I checked the forums to see if others have experienced similar problems and to follow the advice others have given, so I took everything back out of the case to see if my rig would post when I just have the motherboard, CPU, video card, and memory with, of course, the power supply, but I get the same thing.

I also tried just using one stick of memory and placing it in different slots, but that didn't work. Then I tried clearing CMOS and still nothing.

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Hi,welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your problems.Very nice rig you've built there by the way.Does the CPU fan spin when you turn it on?Any leds on the motherboard showing that there is power?Did you install the motherboard on the stand-offs in the case?

Did you plug in the 24 pin power and the 4 pin 12v atx power for the cpu?

Do the fans spin? Do you get any beeps?

Do you have a internal speker plugged in?

Thanks for the reply!

Now that you mention it, the fan for the Tuniq Tower heat sink is not spinning at all even though the plug is in the motherboard. Could that mean that there is something wrong with the motherboard?
I don't think my gigabyte DS3L motherboard has LEDs on it because I don't see any at all. And to answer your third question, yes the motherboard was standoffs when it was installed inside the case.

Sorry, now that I look it, the CPU fan is spinning. I guess it just takes a while for it to spin after it is turned on.
All the major power cables (the 12V for the CPU and the 24 pin ATX for the motherboard) are connected where they are supposed to be.
I don't have internal speakers in my case so I can't tell if there are/aren't beep codes.

Is your PSU set to the right voltage on the back for where you live?
What brand is your PSU?
I think your PSU may be dead.
I believe all motherboards have some kind of status light on them, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Every one I ever seen does, even old ones.
You need to get your PSU tested or swap it with another. A tester cost $10 on ebay, or take it to a shop.
Thats where I would start since you said you dont see a light. Try to find a speaker to. Maybe one came with your mobo and you overlooked it.

Actually I just played with it a little more and finally got something on the screen. Right now it says "Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter." Does that mean that it works, as currently I don't have the hard drive or optical drives connected to the motherboard?

hi glad it's working! How did you get it going? Now you just need to hook up the optical drive and hard drive, set the first boot device to your optical drive, and install your os.
