Hi guys!
I've got a Conceptronics multimedia external hard disk and yesterday it stopped work. Then, I opened the box and turned up the disk again and it didn't spin. I removed the disk and installed it in my desktop, but it didn't spin too and the BIOS didn't recognized it.
I suppose that the problem is in the board or the motor. I prefer recover the data to replace it (is warrantied) and I thought about buying a similar device and change the board. The hard disk is a SAMSUNG HD501LJ.
Can you recommend me any test o suggestions please?

Thanks!

PD: Sorry for my bad English.

any attempt to recover the data, other than just plugging it into a pc and recovering that way will void the warranty.

so basically, you cant change the controller board (warranty void), motor (clean room required, and voids warranty). even the data recovery places void the warranty in most cases.

if you search a lot, you may find one that works with samsung in these cases (sanctioned by samsung for recovery, and they are allowed to work on the drive without voiding warranty), but I wouldn't hold my breath. Also, data recovery places are pretty $$$$
