Hi,

I woke up this morning extremely early and therefore my judgment wasnt there.

I recently got a dual core AMD Athlon 6000+ (3GHz) with a ASRock ALiveNF6P-VISTA motherboard. I went to the bios and set the CPU freq. to 300MHz, the PCIE speed got bumped up as I changed the CPU speed (dont rember to what). I save and exited the bios. When booting up again the screen remains bitch black. Nothing happens at all. Ive tried clearing the motherboard cmos but still the same problem.

Does anyone have a gut feel on where the problem might be? Motherboard or CPU?

Um, try another cpu in the motherboard or the cpu in another motherboard?

Try removing the CMOS battery and letting the mobo sit there for about an hour or so. Then try again!

Eh... Doesn't that CPU run stock @ 200mhz x 15? Meaning you just tried to run a 6000+ @ 4.5ghz (300mhz x 15)? Those chips top out at like 3.4ghz. Instead of bumping your CPU speed up a lot at a time, try doing like 5mhz at a time.


Seriously, you don't just bump the FSB 100mhz at a time. Its not good. I doubt either your mobo, CPU, or RAM are capable of handling that much speed. Do what eviloni suggested, take out the CMOS battery and try it again. That should reset your BIOS.

Anywho, be careful when you OC.
