I was reading a post in another forum, where the guy was asking about updating his bios ?.
The answer he got was, if his version no. was say f4 and the latest was f10, then he would have to update to f5, then f6, then f7 and so on up to f10, basically saying you can't go from f4 to f10 in one go.
Gigabyte recommends not going too many steps at one time. I started at F6 and went to F8a, no problem, skipping F7. Going one at a time is the safest way.
What is going on here? Did i miss something? I don't know why Gigabyte or anyone else would say or recommend something like updating all revisions in sequencial order. That's insane. That would be like getting all Hotfixes for Windows XP, THEN installing SP1, installing all Hotfixes for Windows XP, THEN installing SP2, installing all Hotfixes for Windows XP, THEN installing SP3.
A bios includes all previous fixes. There is no such thing as a BIOS Patch (might change with EFI). You should only flash your Bios if you really, really need to. While it rarely happens, there is always the risk of rendering your mainboard useless while you flash.
You are so right. & people be precautious, not all Bios listed on the manufacturs site work well.
I have know that if you have say 0601 and you notice 0605 is available you just jump to it. I should contain all the fixes from 0601 to 0604
